The exhibition selected from the permanent collection is now on view from Mar. 2 to Apr. 4
It includes Japanese paintings and woodblock prints from the 17th to the early 20th centuries by Rosetsu Nagasawa, Shunsou Katsukawa, Sansetsu Kanoh, Utamaro Kitagawa, Kunisada Utagawa, Yoshitoshi Tsukioka, Harunobu Suzuki, Helen Hyde under the theme of "Paradise on earth" or "Joy of Spring"
It also exhibits the newly acquired oil paintings and calligraphy by Kazumasa Nakagawa.

The Woodblock printing above is by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka(1839~1892)
The title is FLOWER. The actor Ichikawa Sendanji as Gosho Goroza from the Series " the Snow, Moon and Flower".
This painting is by Rosetsu Nagasawa(1754~1799).
The title is "Immortals on the wave". Immortals are heading for Mt. Horai which is famous in legend.
The woodblock printing below is by Shunei Katsukawa (1789~1801).
The title is "Horse beneath a Cherry Tree"
You'll see a horse with a lot of fine mats on it and a woman making a tea.
This painting is by Shunsho Katsukawa (1726~1792).
The title is "The Girl's Festival, from the series Woman's Daily Life in the Twelve Months".
You'll see how vividly Shunsho Katsukawa painted the joy when they were opening the box with the doll in it.
He had many disciples. One of them was Hokusai Katsushika.
In the exhibition room, displays are changed about every other month , while contemporary art displays are changed about every three months.
