I had a blast strawberry-picking with my family in late February! We went to a farm near my house in Chiba, which is about an hour by train from Tokyo. There are actually quite a few strawberry farms around here.
What's cool is that they grow the strawberries in greenhouses with heaters, so you can pick them even in winter! The farm we visited is open from early January to mid-May. Just a heads up, the price was ¥2,900 for junior high students and older, but it's always best to check the farm's website for the latest info. Prices can vary.
We got to pick all sorts of big, sweet strawberries. They even had white ones, which was a first for me! They were super tasty, with a perfect mix of sweet and tart.
As you can see in the photos, you can pick the strawberries while standing up, which is way easier than crouching down. We were so excited that we ate way too much, but it was totally worth it. Strawberry picking is definitely a fun activity for families!
